My name’s Ed Jacob and I’m from Canada originally, but have been living in Japan since 1993. I work for a small publishing company and English school called AtoZ, writing English conversation books and teaching.
I started this blog in February 2008 and update it two or three times a week. I’m gradually moving photos from my Quirky Japan site here, and adding new ones as I take them. My photos are taken with a Canon EOS 40D.

Hi there!
My name is Rocco Tavani. Our son is 82nd Airborne and finished his tour in Iraq and is now staioned in Japan. He loves it by the way.
While searching for ideas for him for Christmas I got the crazy idea that he would really get a kick out of this… is there any wat to get one of the Japan Self-Defense Forces Morning Musume Recruitment poster?
If there is ANY way, please email back and let me know how to go about it, please.
Thanks, Rocco

Ed, thanks for your posts. I visited Japan last year to assist our customer there. I really enjoyed the beauty of Japan and I now miss it sometimes. I enjoy seeing your posts.

Hi Ed
I’ve been living in Japan for just over a year (down south in Kyushuu), and I just want to say that this is one of the most interesting Japan blogs that i’ve come across… wonderful photos, great links, and fascinating content. I’ll be visiting your site often!
