Osaka – the Venice of the Orient

In it’s promotional literature, Osaka often refers to itself as “the Venice of the Orient.” Must be because of the beautiful canals.

Oh dear. Is this what Osaka really looks like? Don’t think I’ll go there after all. However, I am taking the family to Tokyo in April to follow the Cherry Blossom north and wondered about the best way to do this. All four children we are taking with us are aged 15-21. What do you recommend that won’t break our budget? So far, haven’t organised accommodation.

The canals in Venice are the same color so maybe they are on to something.
