Japan Subculture Research Center Blog

subculture-blog

Visit a Japanese bookstore or browse through a weekly magazine, and you’ll find tons of endlessly fascinating information about Japan’s criminal underworld.  I’ve always thought it was a pity that there wasn’t more information about the latest gangster news, and so I was glad to come across the Japan Subculture Research Center blog last week.
Recent posts include “Hard Times for a Nine-fingered Man,” “Tokyo Set for a Turf War as Recession-hit Yakuza Gangsters Fight it Out,” “Human Trafficking in Japan.”

Thanks for mentioning our little website. Well, all I really know about Japan is the seedier side but maybe, someday, we’ll post something cheerful! Appreciate the referral. (I’m so hopelessly analog that I don’t know a better term).

I find your site pretty interesting as well. I’ll have to check out the Love Hotels book—although apparently the chic Japanese kids are calling them “boutique hotels” now.
